Team SPI Group together at distributor training at IFF in New Century, Kansas!
As a preferred distributor partner for IFF Nourish, the SPI team had the privilege of spending time with the application experts at the IFF New Century, Kansas location.
It was great to learn more about functional ingredients, from the source of the ingredient all the way through how they are used in finished products. Having dedicated training days meant that we were able to cover a broad range of applications including meat alternatives, further processed meats,beverage, confection and bars and cereals.
Especially interesting was the bakery presentation, including an evaluation (yes, eating cake for work) of different emulsifiers and different hydrocolloid systems in cakes. Tasting a plate full of different confections illustrated differences in hydrocolloid systems and allowed us to easily compare them and see and taste the difference!
We marveled at the amazing application labs at the IFF Facility. There is a pilot bar line in the facility, as well as a cereal flaker. The bakery lab and the dairy lab were especially impressive and sparked a conversation about our favorite ice creams.
