“is a hot dog a sandwich?” and other important questions from NCIFT 2023

The SPI Group team was so happy to be at our home section supplier’s night in Pleasanton, CA! A huge thank you to all of our customers and friends and colleagues who came by the SPI Group booth to answer the question “is a hot dog a sandwich?” The result of the vote was an overwhelming “yes”! (leave comments here if you agree or disagree!)

At the show, we enjoyed having our booth right next to our partners at Prosur. The Prosur booth featured natural solutions to protect and extend shelf life in meat, poultry and plant based items.  On the other side of our booth, our partner JRS featured fiber ingredients including a new Citrus Fiber product. We like the citrus fiber because of it’s high water binding capacity and it’s ability to increase juiciness and firmness of bite in plant based meat analogs.

The show attendees all enjoyed tasting the plant based hot dogs provided by our new partner, Planteneers.  Planteneers specializes in binding solutions that provide structure and texture to plant-based meat, dairy and deli alternatives. They can also offer complete systems that include flavor and color. The SPI Team along with Planteneers can support formulation and recipe improvements, process improvements, and production testing.
